AYBL Code of Conduct
I, parent, player, coach, participant, attendee, spectator, official, and/or referee agree to abide by all Abington Youth Basketball League rules and policies, including this Code of Conduct. I support the mission of AYBL to establish a comprehensive recreational basketball league that emphasizes fun, development, learning, leadership, positivity, sportsmanship and passion for the sport of basketball. I understand it is essential for parents, players, coaches, participants, attendees, spectators and officials to encourage young athletes to embrace the values of good sportsmanship; the adults being models of good sportsmanship and leading by example by demonstrating fairness, respect and self-control.
I pledge to be responsible for my words and actions while attending, participating, coaching officiating and/or refereeing in an AYBL recreational youth basketball game or practice, in addition to abiding by all federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations, shall conform my behavior to the following code of conduct:
1- I will not engage in unsportsmanlike conduct with any coach, parent, player, participant, official, referee or any other attendee.
2- I will not encourage my child, or any other person, to engage in unsportsmanlike conduct with any coach, parent, player, participant, official, referee or any other attendee.
3- I will not engage in any behavior which would endanger the health, safety or well-being of any coach, parent, player, participant, official, referee or any other attendee.
4- I will not encourage my child, or any other person, to engage in any behavior which would endanger the health, safety or well-being of any coach, parent, player, participant, official, referee or any other attendee.
5- I will not use drugs, alcohol or tobacco and will not carry a firearm while at an AYBL youth basketball event and will not attend, coach, officiate, referee or participate in an AYBL youth sports event while under the influence of drugs or alcohol, using tobacco or carrying a firearm.
6- I will not permit my child, or encourage any other person, to use drugs, alcohol or tobacco or to carry a firearm while at an AYBL youth basketball event and will not permit my child, or encourage any other person to attend, coach, officiate, referee or participate in an AYBL youth basketball event while under the influence of drugs or alcohol or while using tobacco or carrying a firearm.
7- I will not engage in the use of profanity.
8- I will not encourage my child, or any other person, to engage in the use of profanity.
9- I will treat any coach, parent, player, participant, official, referee or any other attendee with respect regardless of race, creed, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation or ability.
10- I will encourage my child, or any other person, to treat any coach, parent, player, participant, official, referee or any other attendee with respect regardless of race, creed, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation or ability.
11- I will not engage in verbal or physical threats or abuse aimed at any coach, parent, player, participant, official, referee or any other attendee.
12- I will not encourage my child, or any other person, to engage in verbal or physical threats or abuse aimed at any coach, parent, player, participant, official, referee or any other attendee.
13- I will not initiate a fight or scuffle with any coach, parent, player, participant, official, referee or any other attendee.
14- I will not encourage my child, or any other person, to initiate a fight or scuffle with any coach, parent, player, participant, official, referee or any other attendee.
15- I will respect all facilities that host AYBL practices and games. I will clean up after myself and ensure any party I attend practices and/or games and encourage my player to comply with the same.
16- I will supervise any children that I bring to AYBL sports events and will not let them roam throughout the building(s) where they are spectating.
I hereby agree that if I fail to conform my conduct to the foregoing while attending, coaching, officiating, refereeing or participating in an AYBL youth basketball event I will be subject to disciplinary action, including but not limited to the following in any order or combination:
· 1- Verbal warning issued by AYBL Executive Board.
· 2- Written warning issued by AYBL Executive Board.
· 3- Probation for a period of time to be determined by AYBL Executive Board.
· 4- Suspension or immediate ejection from AYBL events (practices/games) issued by AYBL or official, referee, coach or any AYBL Board Member as the circumstances present, with authority to issue such suspension or ejection by AYBL.
· 5- Suspension from multiple AYBL youth basketball events (practice/games) issued by AYBL.
· 6- Season suspension or multiple season suspensions issued by AYBL.
